I participated in a leak investigation of the K Wing—the southernmost section of the east façade—originally designed by McKim, Mead & White and completed in 1925. The project focused on identifying the source of water infiltration affecting the limestone parapet. I conducted on-site inspections that involved scaling the façade and reviewing original architectural drawings to trace the extent of limestone spalling, which was caused by rusted steel brackets embedded within the masonry. The scope of the work included Dutchman repairs and stone replacement to address compromised areas. I also contributed to broader roof restoration efforts across the museum, gaining insight into the complexities of preserving this architecturally significant and historically layered institution.
